It is said that once Emperor Akbar the Great was travelling the area and met a saint whose name was Hafiz Mustafa Bukhari. The emperor was very much impressed by the hospitality of the said saint and asked him for reward. The saint desired for the creation of town. The emperor ordered for the creation of town on the name of Syed Hafiz Mustafa Bukhari as “HAFIZABAD”. Hafizabad was given the status of a district w.e.f 01-07-1993. The Hafizabad district is bounded on the north by Mandi Bahauddin district, on the west by Chiniot and Sargodha districts, on the south by Faisalabad district and on the east by Gujranwala district.
